Swedes get very drunk on Fridays and Saturdays. This is result of traditional high alcohol policy. The alcohol costs a lot, the age limit for drinking is 21 and you can buy booze only in Systembolaget (government drinks monopoly). This makes more and more people travel abroad to neighboring countries, especially Denmark and Germany, to buy cheap alcohol there, or buy illegal (home-brewed) alcohol. In Sweden, just one beer or glass of wine can land a driver in jail for up to six months.
